International Women's Day - 2013 (Upcoming)

UN Women National Committee Canada will be celebrating the 2013 International Women's Day based on the theme, "Strong Women, Strong Leadership, Strong World : Equality" on 8th March 2013. Preparations are well underway to forge partnerships with corporate, civil society and local allies across Canada for the celebrations pertaining to International Women's Day. Additional details on events and their location will be updated on our website in due course.

Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women National Committee Canada to address Interim Place annual gala "Rays of Hope" and receive the 2013 Woman of Courage Award

Almas Jiwani will be speaking at the Interim Place annual flagship gala "Rays of Hope" on the issue of women abuse. Ms. Jiwani will also be awarded the Woman of Courage Award at the Gala by Interim Place for her efforts to empower and provide a voice to women world over. THE IMPORTANCE OF DONATING

UN Women - Canada is a membership organization, supporting the programs of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls. Donations to UN Women- Canada help to "top up" the funds UN Women receives from the United Nations and member governments, including Canada . Your membership fee enables UN Women Canada, to administer its work in Canada , to raise awareness of the plight of women in the developing countries and organizes information evenings and fundraising events. We are dependent upon our membership revenue to support the continued existence of a National Committee for UN Women in Canada.

Membership Benefits

There are various perks and advantages that come along with furthering the cause of gender empowerment through donations. All members of UN Women -Canada receive an income tax receipt for their membership fee, our periodic newsletter and e-mails on important gender equality and womens' development issues. Members are invited to participate actively in the work of our national organization through volunteer opportunities that are posted on a rolling basis . Members also receive an income tax deductible receipt for their Membership Fee. Let us join hands together in empowering women!
